Advent, the four weeks prior to Christmas in Germany is the busiest time of year. Reinvent each new year old customs. CALENDRIER OF ADVENT: With joy before the holidays, children and adults eager to open during the 24 days leading up to Christmas the windows of the little surprises calendars or Advent. The Advent calendar counts the days left until Christmas. Advent calendars came into use in 1851 when every family build your own calendar. Such a huge variety of ideas and creations are still in force. The calendars are printed since 1902. Every day, from 1 to December 24, opens a window. Is hidden behind a picture, chocolate or other surprise. Even the buildings, especially the municipalities, they become huge Advent calendar. Every day there is a lighted window discovered a painting by artist or school.
Each Sunday in December, the house lights a candle over the Advent wreath and candles illuminate the windows.
