Advent, the four weeks prior to Christmas  in Germany is the busiest time of year. Reinvent each new year old customs. The Advent calendar counts the days left until Christmas. Advent calendars came into use in 1851 when every family build your own calendar. Each Sunday in December, the house lights a candle over the Advent wreath and candles illuminate the windows. Trees in the gardens are filled with Christmas lights and Santa Clauses are made or angels.
